Last week I attended the opening of <a href="http://www.seraphine.com/">Seraphine's</a> new store on Marylebone High Street. For those who might not know, Seraphine is a leading maternity fashion brand, but trust me, you do not have to be pregnant to fall in love with their gorgeous pieces that are both trendy and functional. After all, they've been worn by Duchess of Cambridge, Angelina Jolie and Claudia Schiffer to name a few.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZysxpZEJQI9nw5a0mxmFrR4U6IjmMDIShL1BCu2YTJCRuB1BVI0DJnDfgIpM4lVuXCijnnQ3HfYHwMJ0N3qSCggxfdLrYVFfPAEw261uOTTpC9bSIC7JPFjRt_cZjYVlf42K_5fv4u4Bj/s640/blogger-image-475343878.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZysxpZEJQI9nw5a0mxmFrR4U6IjmMDIShL1BCu2YTJCRuB1BVI0DJnDfgIpM4lVuXCijnnQ3HfYHwMJ0N3qSCggxfdLrYVFfPAEw261uOTTpC9bSIC7JPFjRt_cZjYVlf42K_5fv4u4Bj/s640/blogger-image-475343878.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
The great thing about Seraphine's clothing range, is that it is extremely versatile. Everything is designed to suit women in different stages of pregnancy, as well as new mothers. </div>
</div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div>
This super-soft shawl is on my shopping list. You can wear it if you are pregnant, it works brilliantly as a breast-feeding wrap (thanks to those little poppers on the side) and it is great for when you are on the go doing your school/nursery run (that would be me). It costs £42 and in my opinion it is money well-spent considering its functionality. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is another item on my list (despite the fact that I already own a winter coat...)</div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Think Max Mara signature wrap coat but with a smaller price tag. This is such a cosy piece. Made out of lavish wool blend and cashmere, it both looks and feels amazing. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are some fantastic coats in their collection designed to keep you and your bumps warm and fabulous this winter. There are even coats that are made specifically to fit your baby-carries in when it gets chilly. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What is more, Seraphine has created a stunning yet affordable LUXE range of red-carpet-ready eveningwear. I remember spending a lot of time trying to find a perfect dress for a special occasion when I was pregnant. Seraphine has some head-turning creations that will look incredible on all mothers-to-be. Cecile, the founder of the brand, said that she has ordered one to be made in her size (she is not pregnant) and I definitely want one too. </div>

<br />
Seraphine don't only specialise in clothing and accessories. During her second pregnacy Cecile came up with an idea of ShoeTherapy. Together with acclaimed French orthopedist, Cecile has co-created a range of stylish yet comfortable shoes which help to improve posture and combat back pain - important aspect for all mothers-to-be as well as new mamas. Think hospital footwear but pretty. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It was great to 'bump' into my new favourite cosmetics brand Face Stockholm again during Fenwick Beauty Week last month. Ever since I've been introduced to them this summer (<a href="http://mamamyselfandi.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/FACE%20Stockholm">post here</a>) when they first launched in the UK, I started using their products and I haven't been dissapointed. As I mentioned before, simplicity and quality won me over. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
So here are my two 'front-runners':</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidJ2y-Y38oJafKqSE0E5bdNl5b1m_AMAxwTFf88Rwqfe0cyP4zZVd0p_x2qprkyQSEEEr2gNAXvYi41ottwRUcDrI2HrpEPMr2vuLfsFJ68IqrBjIlqH_TP_wOP7ALMEE9DF3XN4JEbD47/s640/blogger-image-1427256066.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidJ2y-Y38oJafKqSE0E5bdNl5b1m_AMAxwTFf88Rwqfe0cyP4zZVd0p_x2qprkyQSEEEr2gNAXvYi41ottwRUcDrI2HrpEPMr2vuLfsFJ68IqrBjIlqH_TP_wOP7ALMEE9DF3XN4JEbD47/s640/blogger-image-1427256066.jpg"></a></div>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Icelandic Solution. This mosturising gel, which contains minimal ingredients, is simply genius. Extremely light, it tightens and calms your skin. At £140 it's obviously not cheap, but you only need a small amount and it can be used under your eyes, on your lips and as a base under foundation. Basically, it is lots of different products in one bottle. It is the most expencive moisturiser I have ever owned as I am rather sceptical of overly expencive creams and I do believe that price is not always an indicator of quality, but this one appears to be working and I just cannot believe how light it is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDdkliDFk1a9ZuCaamBALfOEijtgN3-w-GespF7cVh0f2SSGMOzDLpaMypJldXzuiGKJjQ7wBvRffw7XGmXJKrskNc13zv0f08RaeWBRcZ8ecv8LpmK6AEyQD5KvYahn5CQN9Ahgqi8OQ6/s640/blogger-image-2099493984.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDdkliDFk1a9ZuCaamBALfOEijtgN3-w-GespF7cVh0f2SSGMOzDLpaMypJldXzuiGKJjQ7wBvRffw7XGmXJKrskNc13zv0f08RaeWBRcZ8ecv8LpmK6AEyQD5KvYahn5CQN9Ahgqi8OQ6/s640/blogger-image-2099493984.jpg"></a></div>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The other new favourite product is BB Natural Beauty Balm. Similary to the moisturiser, it is very light. It can be used on its own for a natural looking coverage or as a primer under your foundation. I am not a fan of heavy foundations, so this balm is ideal. It comes in a handy compact box with a mirror, so it's perfect for when you are out and about. Moreover, it contains Vitamin E and it SPF 30. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Fenwick works with some exclusive brands so it is always exciting to see what's on offer. <div><br><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBgB7JTeUqfcev-2zk4J9Wj0HQnYnV-g6cWhsuCq_pTz3OkRkRmMB4G0eAgvAIg5wUoE13FGmr85vkebzIAu3BsJtBm-t15oJWRcCCANHp-dcqkvy43hU5pBMnlm-fZcLXkSensTku8Qwq/s640/blogger-image--1668553423.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBgB7JTeUqfcev-2zk4J9Wj0HQnYnV-g6cWhsuCq_pTz3OkRkRmMB4G0eAgvAIg5wUoE13FGmr85vkebzIAu3BsJtBm-t15oJWRcCCANHp-dcqkvy43hU5pBMnlm-fZcLXkSensTku8Qwq/s640/blogger-image--1668553423.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Eve Snow is my new discovery. It's a British nail lacquer company. I was attracted to their simple yet high quality product which is produced here in England and is free from several toxins. Plus it has '3 added' nourishing ingridients, meaning your nails will be protected. In the past few years (not sure wheather motherhood had anything to do with it...it does crazy things you sometimes), I've become conscious about what goes into the products I use. Not to an unhealthy extent, but I do care. As fewer toxins as possible is an advantage in my book. </div><div><br></div><div>I've been wearing Eve Snow varnish in a very elegant Birthday Suit shade for a few weeks now and can honestly say that there is no compromise on the quality. My nails can sometimes go through a 'war' with all the 'pram-folding', washing-up and everything else that comes with being a mother to a toddler, so this nail varnish has been thoroughly tested!</div><div><br></div><div>I said it before that I do not buy tons of cosmetics. Some people might slightly disagree when inspecting my shoe collection (hubby...), but I honestly need something that is not overly wintery (boots), yet can be worn with socks (my feet get too cold in flats now!). Therefore, I need ankle boots.<br />
<br />
Ever since falling in love with these beauties (below) back in spring, I now need a darker pair that could be worn when out with a toddler (do they have food-stain resistant ones?), be comfortable when driving and look good when I am going to my various work meetings. <br />
<br />

Well, let me tell you that it feels like I've been a mother my whole life. My brain cannot possibly process the fact that there were times when I was child free. <div><br></div><div>Was there ever a time when I was able to sleep till noon on weekends? Was there ever a time when evening out did not have to be pre-planned a month in advance? Was I ever able to walk around my house without stepping on a crayon and nearly breaking my neck? Was there ever a time when making a decision did not involve me being left feeling guilty no matter which choice I made? Was it ever possible to devote my full and undivided attention to an adult conversation without wondering what is my child up to at the moment? Was I ever allowed to be a little selfish and self-indulgent? Did I actually buy those Louboutins or was that just a dream... When did I start preferring Mothercare to Selfridges? What did I do with all that free time? How did I live without my little darling? <div><br></div><div>Motherhood is the most amazing thing in the world, but it's also hard. Yes, hard. No one ever tells you that it will be hard. Yes, you hear about sleepless nights, but that's just one tiny little aspect of motherhood. It is hard because no one ever teaches you about it. It's not like you can get internship at Motherhood HQ, is it? So every single decision that you make about your child is purely based on your own instincs (or Google). And God forbid, if for some reason the decision you make works out to be the wrong one, or is criticised by someone else, then you are left with one ginormous feeling of guilt. Oh yes, guilt goes hand in hand with love in motherhood. You decide to go out for the evening - feeling guilty, you decide to go to work - feeling guilty, you leave your child in front of Peppa the Pig so you can get some things done - feeling guilty, you decide not to take your child to a playgroup because it is pissing down with rain and you just cannot be bothered - feeling extremely guilty. The list goes on and on and on. I've never put so much thought into making decisions like I do now, because I now have future and well being of my child in my hands, and trust me, this can be a very daunting thing. </div><div><br></div><div>Add tantrums, colds and sore tummies into an equation and it sometimes surprises me how us parents still manage to survive without loosing the plot (wine helps!). We brush off biscuit crumbs from our tops or houmous from our shoes (goodbye my gorgeous DKNY flats...), put on straight faces (or even a smile) and just soldier on. Being a parent one certainly has to learn to remain calm (no swearing in front of a child...I am still mastering that) and we do, but trust me, there underneath all that calmness, ocassionaly (often) there is a parent who is just about to explode! The main thing remains though, no matter what, motherhood (or parenthood) is the most incredible thing in the world. I cannot remeber the days when I loved and laughed so much. Or felt so proud! </div><div><br></div><div>Cheers to a lifetime of motherhood! </div><div><br></div><div> <br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5731981230534399299.post-54138170311455376032013-09-15T11:32:00.000+01:002013-09-15T11:32:00.733+01:00Best Sunday buys for £100 and under<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Yes, summer is well and truly over. Last weekend instead of wearing my Havaianas, I wore my Hunters. They've been hidden away somewhere in the depths of the wardrobe for a long time and I was actually excited to be reunited with them. I love wellies and if I could justify it (I can't...), I would certainly purchase some more pairs (does anyone actually own more than one pair of wellies?). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfIlaI3IdjNWegvl30BvmRo82TQXJbg9fekZ_c_82JTSN12GgXytIKufHTzgkzprEeZLqVPhLzZHI4z16NTjLGnGtKAG2RBMuzwIxQgIkBT2b2enfxkYbbrq-KBT2oKZ-6z7gh9NEaWTFn/s1600/wellies+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfIlaI3IdjNWegvl30BvmRo82TQXJbg9fekZ_c_82JTSN12GgXytIKufHTzgkzprEeZLqVPhLzZHI4z16NTjLGnGtKAG2RBMuzwIxQgIkBT2b2enfxkYbbrq-KBT2oKZ-6z7gh9NEaWTFn/s640/wellies+1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I am also wearing Trilogy jeans. They do perfect skinny jeans (yes, I know all my jeans look the same, but when I find something that fits me, I stick to it).<br />
<br />
Little Miss S was also treated to a pair of new wellies (if I cannot buy myself another pair, at least I've got my daughter). Hers are from Cath Kids. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3RY8G6_HHQf0NE628BMYR8OdxQThxbEvCFD-ZvFY2dR8_hqH98PyBtxB0R3dLUG_GBmRrkEvlW7gK5GOpjUcDcXHolTMxYgEBd9ObeGaIv7jmOweVzA4MueoVTDs2N_EVY0hytia5dUfu/s1600/wellies+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3RY8G6_HHQf0NE628BMYR8OdxQThxbEvCFD-ZvFY2dR8_hqH98PyBtxB0R3dLUG_GBmRrkEvlW7gK5GOpjUcDcXHolTMxYgEBd9ObeGaIv7jmOweVzA4MueoVTDs2N_EVY0hytia5dUfu/s400/wellies+2.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
And if you did manage to find an excuse for another pair of wellies, here are some of my favourite:<br />

Today I am connecting to <a href="http://mummysgotstyle.com/">Mummy's got Style</a> for Fashion Friday. After yesterday's exceptionally hot day in London, which Little Miss S and I spent in the park, today is much more cooler. I have a couple of meetings in preparation for London Fashion Week and later Hubby and I have a 'date night' (or just dinner together). In between that, Little Miss S and I are attending a playgroup! I won't have much time to change, so here is what I will be wearing.<br />
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl5hJRwetpQ8RcP63VXt6dEZuBAUdk7C_OX5A78y4AzWjdow7PcY5Kff06WVT9zDWi3KlwCSwn1HQE__EavbD-9YFKQb1MSB7LGwu0E6GwUiaYZD-Wa4ce2TYZTHxP0TRvOhWZMy31ZDOq/s1600/day+and+night+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl5hJRwetpQ8RcP63VXt6dEZuBAUdk7C_OX5A78y4AzWjdow7PcY5Kff06WVT9zDWi3KlwCSwn1HQE__EavbD-9YFKQb1MSB7LGwu0E6GwUiaYZD-Wa4ce2TYZTHxP0TRvOhWZMy31ZDOq/s640/day+and+night+2.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I love my DKNY flats. They are extremely comfortable and I can run around in them the whole day. I would suggest to try and go for leather or suede flats rather than cheaper synthetics, as your feet won't sweat so much!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<br />
For the evening, I will change my flats for these super high Geox wedges (here I am also wearing 7 for All Mankind jeans). Having a little one, I tend to spend a lot of time in flats (many years ago I used to wear heels to supermarket...insane), so I use any opportunity to 'trotter around' in high heels.<br />
<br />
Here is my suggestion from Style in View, if you need a simple outfit that will look good during the day and night out.<br />
<br />
Happy Weekend.<br />

The only time when you can get away with such a bright colour is when you have a tan and thanks to the most gorgeous weather here in the UK, as well as quite a few trips abroad, I managed to make a fairly good use of my neon buys.<br />

<br />
I bought this bright pink Victoria Secret's top at the beginning of the season and it has been my favourite. It's perfect for the beach, but you can also get away with it in the city when it's scorching hot. Here, I teamed it up with Ted Baker trousers (white and toddlers don't go, but oh well...). As it is a very open top, it does require a pretty bra - I am wearing Agent Provocateur. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I've also started thinking about doing some shopping for autumn, even though it still doesn't feel like summer is over. I've been recommended <a href="http://www.styleinview.co.uk/">StyleinView.co.uk</a>, which is basically a fashion search engine, so if you are looking for a dress in a certain colour for an upcoming event, you pop it in and then they tell you everywhere online that are currently selling these and then you can arrange this by price. They have just launched a new widget where you can create your own gallery based on a certain look/style. It's a great site for searching or putting different looks together and I will be posting some of my creations. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The below selection is for all the mothers that will be starting their school/nursery runs this week. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Skinny Jeans - I think they are one of the best inventions. Don't think I own any other style... I love the colour of these Warehouse jeans and the price is great too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Aquascutum scarf - gorgeous and on sale! I own quite a few pieces from this brand - I am just in love with their check stripes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Simple but stylish Tommy Hilfiger tote. Perfect for carrying all the snacks, wipes, iPad and random toys. It is black which is a practical colour when you have little ones. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Ash ankle boots - they are most definitely on my list. They look good and I am very sure that they are comfortable as well! Just the right height for driving or walking up the hill. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Simple T-shirt. I think this one (only 5 pounds!!) goes nicely with a scarf. There is no better combination than a simple but nicely fitted T-shirt and a pair of good jeans. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Finally, if it does get a little cool, this quilted gilet is perfect. I own quite a few gilets, they are so practical and they do look good. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This is one of my favourite pasta sauces. It is very simple, tasty and healthy. Perfect for those days when you have no time to slave in the kitchen (some people find it therapeutic...).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
You will need cherry tomatoes (ripe, juicy, good quality ones - ours are from the garden), a clove of garlic, good quality olive oil and some basil (from the garden as well - my attempt at being a domestic goddess!). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Heat the olive oil in the pan, add tomatoes, salt and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes over the medium heat, then add garlic and simmer for another 5-10 minutes. </div>

I spent with Little Miss S and my mum in our summer house in the seaside town called Palanga. Perfect girly holiday. One day, whilst Little Miss S was taking a nap in her SunShade tent, mum and I were sipping coffee on the beach and discussing our perfect maxi dress (as you do). My dear mother works in fashion so <strike>often</strike> occasionally we talk about clothes. I said I wanted a grey dress that is made out of stretchy slightly see-through cotton and fitted at all the right places. Oh, and not too long! There are so many maxis out there, but all I want is simple, pretty thing. And sometimes simple is hard to find. A lot of time simple can cost a small fortune.<br />
<br />
Next day I found one!<br />

However, I didn't find it in a designer boutique. I spotted it on a beach market. And not just any beach market - Women's beach market!<br />
<br />
For those who are not familiar with it, Women's beach (and market) might sound a little bit strange, but I spent my summers there as a child and it's a great place to be (and get an even tan). Yes, as the title suggests, the beach is for women only who like to come and sunbathe topless (or even bottomless). It's the most relaxing and care-free place in the world to sunbathe (unless you are lucky enough to own your own private beach of course). No one stares, no one bothers you. There are young women, older women, pregnant women, women that just had little ones. And then there is a market! Right on the beach, where you can try bikinis, dresses, shoes and much more in just your bikini bottoms! Genius if you ask me. Of course, not all items are great, as it is a market after all, but like anywhere, there are some hidden gems to be found.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
If you ever find yourself in a beautiful place called Vilnius, then there are a couple of things I can recommend to you to make your stay more pleasant, after all I was born here. I used to walk with my mum to her work-place via that bridge in the above photo when I was a toddler (mum works in fashion so occasionally I was allowed to come in with her and disrupt everyone else's creativity). This time Little Miss S was walking with us.<br />
<br />
Vilnius has the most stunning Old-Town. It's full of little boutiques, cafes and restaurants dotted around narrow and quaint cobbled streets.<br />
<br />
Start your day in Uzupis by grabbing yourself a coffee and some fresh bread or a cake.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLxnNt9Zr-qCoNt6-fCQla5GkzK1AQa3LkFvm8ujVHSiQ_e7PrzNpyfOs0PlNynzo2uecT9kqf4TdFBR2mQrqhV0-eOmx3WRCMkGjktFZ04OFchL4C-vp2O2I6l226QbHjozFaM1UIV0u/s1600/image+(3).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLxnNt9Zr-qCoNt6-fCQla5GkzK1AQa3LkFvm8ujVHSiQ_e7PrzNpyfOs0PlNynzo2uecT9kqf4TdFBR2mQrqhV0-eOmx3WRCMkGjktFZ04OFchL4C-vp2O2I6l226QbHjozFaM1UIV0u/s640/image+(3).jpeg" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Maybe in here?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Then begin exploring. Uzupis is known as an 'artist republic'. It even has it's own constitution (not real obviously, but I am very happy to live by it!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIsTXYY6pgXKrbXkvjJ9RVzZ1nhBiocOu0fozHC83fcDp8goyouAufOzru_bOO47JIAPIrRIa3xf89CnL5hM_szwoFac8_gVFo0FD3acy0b-ydU5FGguq1-fz99qd4fPkzar7KZCc2SDmQ/s1600/photo+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIsTXYY6pgXKrbXkvjJ9RVzZ1nhBiocOu0fozHC83fcDp8goyouAufOzru_bOO47JIAPIrRIa3xf89CnL5hM_szwoFac8_gVFo0FD3acy0b-ydU5FGguq1-fz99qd4fPkzar7KZCc2SDmQ/s640/photo+(2).JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
A lot of architecture still hasn't been renovated in this part, so it's a real gem.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKHuzqb0_c4WES9r6u2wA-ThB6AL-6ab51YXGL6WXZpANnHHmr1myWssLhRKv-qYdaotLBqIUylEFf73WeALOEARpPMQtY1fBcY91ms_U5ohmdlkXs71xXmQpQHY40PyyIMpOcOnbfBczC/s1600/image+(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKHuzqb0_c4WES9r6u2wA-ThB6AL-6ab51YXGL6WXZpANnHHmr1myWssLhRKv-qYdaotLBqIUylEFf73WeALOEARpPMQtY1fBcY91ms_U5ohmdlkXs71xXmQpQHY40PyyIMpOcOnbfBczC/s640/image+(1).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Many artists live and work here. In the daytime it's quiet and laid-back, people getting on with their work, mothers lunching and cats lounging around in the sun, but in the evenings all the 'bohemians' like to come out with their red wine and cigarettes. The atmosphere can be truly amazing, especially on the warm summer evenings that we've been having recently. <br />

<br />
Very sorry for the lack of posts, but as you might know we are away on holiday *huge smirk on my face*. This post comes from sunny Lithuania where we have been eating, eating, more eating (even as I type this post I am eating), swimming, exploring and seeing friends and family. I haven't lived in Lithuania for nearly 15 years now (wish I could say I was a baby then...I wasn't, I'm just a tiny bit older than that...), but this is one of my favourite places to holiday (no, I am not biased, I just really like). Vilnius is a stunning city with lots of cozy little cafes, restaurants and bustling bars. Rain or shine, Lithuanians like to sit outside during summer months. If you get a little chilly by midnight (yes, having my dear mum as a babysitter gave Hubby and I a chance to have quite a few so called 'date' nights), then the waiter will happily give you a warm blanket. I love this whole 'blanket culture', it is very popular in continental Europe. We should bring it to London! Vilnius is also very cultural. From jazz bars to museums, theaters and classical music concerts. However, if the weather gets too hot and you fancy to relax by the water, then there are hundreds of lakes nearby. Trakai (photo above) is a pretty little town 20 minutes drive from Vilnius that has plenty of fresh water lakes and lots of great places to eat. You can hire a cottage for a few nights, or choose one of many fabulous hotels. You can also get a boat for the whole day or a few hours, which I highly recommend. And don't forget the sauna in the evening (followed by the swim in the lake) - something that most Lithuanians do in he summer (some crazy ones do it in the winter too).<br />

Heading out for drinks and dinner with Hubby and friends at the beginning of our holiday when it was a little rainy. I am wearing:<br />
<br />
Jacket: Aquascutum<br />
Jeans: 7 for All Mankind<br />
Bag: Mulberry<br />
Brolly: Burberry<br />
Shoes: L.K. Bennett<br />
<br />

Mama on duty. Weather is back to normal (hot!) and I am wearing:<br />
<br />
Top: bought in Greece. Perfect for this weather as it is pretty much see-through and open at the back<br />
Short: Ralph Lauren (extremely ancient but still great)<br />
Sandals: from Greece (saw lots of lovely sandals here in Vilnius so might sneak off to the shops...)<br />
<br />
Our holiday is not over yet. We are off to the seaside now. Little Miss S learnt a new word 'sea' whilst we were away in Greece and she hasn't stopped repeating it. Now it's time to see the sea again;) Till next time (I've got thousands of gorgeous photos and lots of yummy recipes to share).<br />

Last month when we went away I didn't get a chance to 'prepare' as we booked our gateway last minute. Obviously, I survived and had the most fabulous break, but this time we are away for much longer period and, well, I just couldn't help myself...<br />
<br />
First stop was Victoria's Secrets for some underwear. I've been a fan of this brand for a very long time and obviously I am utterly delighted that they finally opened their London store.<br />

My new favourite colour (excuse my tired looking, make-up free face, but it was extremely hot and all I could think of, by that stage, was ice cold Pinot Blush in the garden)<br />

<br />
Belt - Chloe<br />
<br />
Top - Reiss (ancient)<br />
<br />
Bag - Mulberry<br />
<br />
Sandals - from boutique in Greece, already been soaked with strawberry cider by Little Miss S <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Thank you to all my readers who emailed me with various questions regarding traveling with the baby. I remember our first trip abroad with Little Miss S (post <a href="http://mamamyselfandi.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/how-to-travel-with-baby-whilst-keeping.html">here</a>) and how nervous and apprehensive I felt. Very soon (hooray!) we are off again and by this stage I am starting to loose count of Little Miss S's trips abroad, but that doesn't mean that I stopped panicking before we leave (Little Miss S has now decided that airports are boring - and who can blame her?!).<br />
<br />
Anyway, I already wrote about packing and flying, but there is another aspect to a holiday with the little one - the holiday itself. I've come to a conclusion that in order to have a relaxing holiday with a baby or toddler (yes, I did say relaxing!), you have to establish a routine. I am a great believer that good routine equals content baby and (not a rocket science) content baby equals very happy parent! Therefore, if you have a routine at home, then it's a good idea to carry that through to your holiday. Yes, I know that words 'routine' and 'holiday' should not really be put together, because after all holiday is there to 'rescue' us from the routine, but when you become a parent routine becomes your good friend. And anyway, lets be honest, it's not like you get a chance to sunbathe on the beach everyday.<br />
<br />
This was our holiday routine:<br />
<br />
- Wake up at 9am (thank Goodness for time difference +2hrs), milk for Little Miss S and coffee for parents. Quick shower, lots of Factor 50 (for Little Miss S), pack beach bag (this task always takes forever as we had LOTS of stuff) and off we go to the beach.<br />
- On the way, stop at our favourite café (same one every day) for breakfast. If we do fancy a long(ish) relaxing breakfast, then our friend iPad comes out to play. We sip our coffee to the sound of sea and Baby TV. Bliss.<br />
- Set up camp on the beach. Prime spot - right on the water , so we can play and relax (yes, it's possible) at the same time. Little Miss S 'formed' a little group of friends who were also there every day. It kept her occupied for hours. <br />
- Snack time at 12.30 and then nap time in the tent. SunSense is one of my best buys for holidays. She had her naps in there last year as well. It protects her from the sun and heat. What a better place to nap than beach. I even had a snooze with her in there once. It's very cozy. <br />
- Nap time for Little Miss S means uninterrupted tan time for mummy and daddy. Or a book, or an ice cold beer! Or a nap too. <br />
- 3pm is food time. We head off to the same tried and tested restaurant. Before Little Miss S came into this world, Hubby and I would try out different places everyday, but now I like to know exactly what we are going to get. I want to be sure that the food is fresh and good quality. Last thing you need on holiday is for your little one to get food poisoning. <br />
- After late lunch we take a stroll down the road to grab some ice-cream and then back to the beach to play and swim. My favourite time on the beach is either early mornings or after 4pm when the sun is not so hot. <br />
- Around 6pm we start making a move back to the apartment. Quick coffee (or rose) on the terrace and the preparations for the evening begin. Once showered and dressed we finally venture out at around 7.30.<br />
- Stop over at our favourite tavern next door (we have been going there for three years now). It only opens at 7pm. It is family owned and Mama spends the whole day preparing food for the evening. All ingredients are from their garden! Time for Little Miss S' dinner. Lamb or beef stew with fresh long beans, stuffed courgette flowers, tzatziki...delicious. Hubby and I have some too as it's impossible not to eat, but our dinner will be at around 10pm once little angel is asleep.<br />
- After dinner, it's time for the long walk through the town, along the beach and maybe some shopping!<br />
- Now then, here is a 'crafty' little idea for you how to go out for late dinner and some wine with a toddler. By around 9pm we get back to the apartment and get Little Miss S ready for bed. Put her in the cot and chill out on the terrace for a bit. Once she is deep in her sleep (after so much playing on the beach), we put her in her pram and venture out next door for some food and wine. We always have our table in the corner, a little away from everyone, so that she can sleep peacefully. Spend there a few hours and then back to the apartment to sleep. Little Miss S is completely unaware that she has been out 'partying'. Two good things to pack if you are taking your little one out in the pram in the evening: mosquito net for pram (there are lots of these little buggers in hot countries) and a dark cotton sheet, so it stays nice and dark in the pram (I've heard that SnoozeShade is good so might try that next time). We were lucky to have our favourite family run tavern right next door to our apartment, as they are extremely accommodating and family orientated. <br />
<br />
We had utterly relaxing holiday. Little Miss S was very content and happy. She ate well and slept well. I mean what more can a parent possibly want? Remember, it might take a couple of days to get into a holiday routine, but once it's done, it's great! <br />
<br />
So enjoy your holidays wherever you are off to and make some lovely memories. These are the most special moments. I am a huge lover of hot summer days, so we have been making the most of this glorious weather. Walks, picnics, barbecues, al fresco dinners. Oh, and what can be better than cup of coffee outside on the terrace in your pyjamas? Or glass of Prosecco in the afternoon (no need to wait for wine o'clock, it's hot!). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Ai5kqMwBVRt1CfZfN_VFW0AReIv0ZS8TUIoDy288rGdYwTFPUFUg5cifyxr6t7yKFvyUZQ_70C6yWDeanr4KYKOYr8tD-ZYb5SoPKozq4x12SOfaSkZmgl9OWoo-BHSSgiFpjOVtH6mw/s1600/heat+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Ai5kqMwBVRt1CfZfN_VFW0AReIv0ZS8TUIoDy288rGdYwTFPUFUg5cifyxr6t7yKFvyUZQ_70C6yWDeanr4KYKOYr8tD-ZYb5SoPKozq4x12SOfaSkZmgl9OWoo-BHSSgiFpjOVtH6mw/s640/heat+1.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I wore:<br />
<br />
Shorts (at last!) from Sisley. I am on the lookout for more shorts for our upcoming holiday. I prefer shorts to skirts, especially when I am out with Little Miss S. However, shorts also make a great evening outfit teamed up with some wedges or high-heel sandals and a shirt (just make sure they are not too short unless you don't mind being mistaken for a pole dancer). <br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">These Michael Kors shorts are currently on sale at <a href="http://www.theoutnet.com/product/178189">Outnet.</a> They would look fabulous with a white shirt and some nude wedges. </td></tr>

<br />
My see-through top, which also opens at the back (it's hot after all!) is from Greece and has been one of my favourite buys for this summer.<br />
<br />
My bra (don't normally write about my underwear but it's summer and you can pretty much see it) is from Agent Provacateur and it's one of my favourites. <br />

<br />
I just had a thought that this is Little Miss S's second summer in this world (although it seems that she has been in our lives forever). However, they seem to be so different regardless of a fact that we did pretty much the same things (holidays, barbecues, parks).<br />
<br />
Last summer Little Miss S was a baby and this summer she is a fully established toddler. <br />
Last summer she was very content with just playing on her mat (be it in the garden, park or beach) and this year we are very lucky if she sits still for five minutes without any bribery. <br />
<br />
Last summer we (parents) had time for afternoon drinks in the sunshine whilst Little Miss S was happily napping in her pram, this summer I got soaked in sticky strawberry cider because I made an error of misjudging the distance between my glass and my child. She likes to remove everything from the table.<br />
<br />
Last summer shopping for clothes in the actual shops where I could browse through things and try them on was still possible. This summer I know I only have fifteen minutes, so I mastered the art of walking quickly into a shop and scanning through all the items like a robot, then picking up something that caught my eye, paying for it and dashing out before the all-mighty tantrum begins (are they allowed tantrums before they even reach two?!). There is no time to think about the purchase or try and see whether I can find something better. <br />
<br />
Last summer we could walk for hours whilst Little Miss S would sit happily in her pram, this summer she wants to push her pram by herself and there is no stopping her. On many occasions I would find myself walking past cute little shops without being able to go in there because my precious little darling wants to carry on pushing her pram forward!<br />
<br />
Last summer I thought that giving your child chips is a crime, this summer they come as a 'life saver', if Hubby and I want to be able to enjoy our al fresco lunch. <br />
<br />
Last summer white jeans were still possible, this summer - only for child-free evenings out.<br />
<br />
Last summer was the best summer ever - and so is this summer. <br />

How would you describe your perfect weekend? How about delicious Lebanese food (even if you are not hungry, the smell will make you want to eat), cold Lebanese beer (have you tried?), lively Lebanese music (cannot help but dance) and sunshine (not just any sunshine, but very warm with not a cloud in the sky), lovely company and the fact that this is all happening in London (no need for travelling), and I think that would pretty much sum up my ideal weekend. So that's exactly what we did last weekend as Lebanese Festival was taking place. It's a fabulous day out for family and friends (yes, sunshine does help). I like the idea of taking your whole family out (from grandparents to tiny little babies) for a picnic in the park, eating food, meeting friends and dancing (yes, families were actually dancing and it wasn't some random drunk dancing...). At one stage I actually felt like I am abroad on holiday. Cannot add anything else. It was perfect. Here are some (a lot) photos.</div>

This uber cool yet approachable cosmetic range comes from Sweden, where it was found and, more importantly, is still managed by the mother and her daughter. Their range of colours is spectacular, but what I really liked is the fact that they use only most natural ingredients. We went through pretty much every single product and I was very impressed by the quality.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBWRp4p1FbrKNsX9Ek5XbGUr-Ug-V0TyfVbGCqAYPKCv3oRSQGlGLqcCcF7JmgmfGLOQMaD00OzkUEmWjAv4qQJV8FBWlhRQp74Zi9kXmbWJnJB0oxFCaCTkg-Hd86GSMQgCZ6JWhg7o8P/s1600/fenwicj+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBWRp4p1FbrKNsX9Ek5XbGUr-Ug-V0TyfVbGCqAYPKCv3oRSQGlGLqcCcF7JmgmfGLOQMaD00OzkUEmWjAv4qQJV8FBWlhRQp74Zi9kXmbWJnJB0oxFCaCTkg-Hd86GSMQgCZ6JWhg7o8P/s640/fenwicj+1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Colours are vibrant and fresh, but not harsh.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Apparently lime nail varnish is men's favourite (on ladies obviously) ... Will need to test that with Mr Hubby</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I thoroughly enjoyed playing with different colours. This is another great thing about this brand. Their attitude towards make-up is very laid back. It is all about joyful learning, creativity and laughter. You can take a very bold and bright lipstick and then add some lip-gloss to neutralise the colour. Don't be afraid to experiment. Just remember, if you are wearing a signature lipstick, keep your eye make-up neutral (I sometimes don't even wear mascara) and vice versa. <br />
<br />
Ellen (the lady who brought FACE to the UK) and I came up with three essential products for busy yummy mummies. <br />
<br />
1. Magic Wand - to cover up those sleepless nights.<br />
2. Creme Brush-On - can be used on lips, eye-lids and cheeks to give a little bit of glow (I went for Tokyo colour).<br />
3. Brow Shadow - apply a little bit at the arch of your brow for a natural daytime look (I went for Myrrah colour).<br />
<br />

My darling brother is visiting, so after a long walk and a hearty lunch in a Pub (photos below), we made this for dessert (heavenly delicious).<br />
<br />
You will need:<br />
<br />
400g of either frozen or fresh cherries<br />
200g of sugar<br />
3 eggs<br />
70g of flour <br />
150ml of milk<br />
100ml of double cream<br />
Grated lime peel<br />
A pinch of salt<br />
<br />
Heat the oven to around 190C and rub the baking dish with some butter. Whisk eggs with sugar, then add flour, milk and cream. Once the mixture for the dough is ready, leave it for 20 minutes. Afterwards, put the quarter of the mixture into a baking dish and leave in the oven for 5 minutes to bake. Add cherries, sprinkle sugar and then put the rest of the dough mixture. Bake for 40 - 50 minutes ( try this - prick a wooden stick into a cake and if it comes out dry - your cake is ready). <br />
<br />
To serve - you can sprinkle sugar powder. Also, cherries can be replaced with plums, raspberries or any other berries. <br />

Today is Wed (how did that happen?) and it's time to connect to <a href="http://transatlanticblonde.blogspot.co.uk/">Transatlantic Blonde</a> for What I Wore Wednesday.<br />
<br />
Well, not much really. I managed to survive with just one bikini (it can be done), one pair of flip flops, one pair of sandals (although I later bought another one...), a few beach dresses, one pair of shorts and a couple of vests. I did read somewhere that a lot of women end up spending nearly just as much money on getting ready for the holiday as they would spend on the actual holiday (?!). So maybe last minute getaway is a way forward? Saying that, I am planning a few shopping trips for our next holiday in July...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw55NWvrgiR2qjOAV45AMRWtxG1Btz8XtP-7c7WqBl7iqowmIvy_adqZQ98JIFxnySfQvmRXjAhw0yfi7dEKt2ql7BFdafIMcBZCjViIxmPHGGFhbMtMdTmWrMwoNaHv3VJ_2DD_KlYB6F/s1600/beach+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw55NWvrgiR2qjOAV45AMRWtxG1Btz8XtP-7c7WqBl7iqowmIvy_adqZQ98JIFxnySfQvmRXjAhw0yfi7dEKt2ql7BFdafIMcBZCjViIxmPHGGFhbMtMdTmWrMwoNaHv3VJ_2DD_KlYB6F/s640/beach+1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I am wearing my bikini bought <strike>4 years ago</strike> very very long time ago in St Tropez.<br />
Little Miss S is wearing a very sensible all in one UV swimsuit from Boots and a hat from Vertbaudet.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8CFYq8w3GH6TdFZ-Ghhm3M-5PikJl0xkIzcQm7deiJ0H1l-Bidue5gVkljt6U1umvw7RTYNSzfx-D2wr8YH8zuMBiz27c0Q6bbEBaQZcL5teuC0L5l20K9Y70IHRlnGlX3so3CBygqTri/s1600/HOLIDAY.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8CFYq8w3GH6TdFZ-Ghhm3M-5PikJl0xkIzcQm7deiJ0H1l-Bidue5gVkljt6U1umvw7RTYNSzfx-D2wr8YH8zuMBiz27c0Q6bbEBaQZcL5teuC0L5l20K9Y70IHRlnGlX3so3CBygqTri/s640/HOLIDAY.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And it's pretty much what we did. Spontaneity does not go hand in hand with small children, but sometimes it's possible (especially if you are not attached to school holidays). So off we went to our favourite place in a very sunny <a href="http://mamamyselfandi.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/holiday-where-i-can-breathe-easy.html">Greece</a>. Last minute meant no <strike>necessary</strike> unnecessary bikini shopping, lots of running around trying to get various items (a lot of cute summer dresses) for Little Miss S, squeezing in a pedicure, drop off Cayman the dog at our very accommodating friends' house and even managing a glass (or two) of wine whilst there. Mr Hubby did a very 'man thing' and got all of his stuff at the airport! <br />
<br />
Flight went reasonably well. 8pm departure meant it was past Little Miss S's bed time and she did get agitated. She likes pushing her own pram around so we did that for about 30 minutes. We walked past Champagne and Caviar bar, both Hubby and I gazing longingly at ice cold bubbly and lobster, but Little Miss S had other ideas, so we settled in at kid's play area with a cup of coffee. As we were eventually getting on the plane, Little Miss S had a <strike>little cry</strike> big scream, but eventually fell asleep and slept right through the whole flight, meaning mummy and daddy did have an opportunity to toast the beginning of their holidays with a glass of champagne. <br />
<br />
From this point onwards it has been great. We have established a routine for Little Miss S. I think in order to have a relaxing holiday with a toddler, it is important to set a routine because children like that. I get to have my 'me' time once she is napping in her Sun Sense tent on the beach (best invention ever). In the evenings she likes falling asleep in her cot, so once she in a land of nod, Hubby and I will put her in a pram and will pop over next door for <strike>a lot</strike> some food and local wine. Yes, we do the same thing every day but it works and everyone is very happy and relaxed. What more could you possibly want!<br />
<br />
More to come...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
